Thank you for your participation this past year in the American Student Association of Community Colleges. We have been very successful this past year working on national issues and increasing the profile of ASACC, its members, and the students we serve. As a part of other higher education coalitions in Washington DC, ASACC and its allies have truly made a difference, but there are many battles still to be fought. With the 2020 election beginning to heat up, we will face an uphill battle in getting community college student voices heard. It is more critical than ever to have your participation and involvement on the national level. A critical key to serving your fellow students is making sure you are on top of the federal issues that impact their education.
We are continuing to work on many issues that will benefit community college students and our member colleges. Although much progress has been made, we must continue our presence and advocacy on such priorities as: increasing the Pell maximum, increasing availability of student loans and forgiveness, further developing the programs for students in key majors and generally increasing the overall investment by the Congress in higher education!
As we move forward with these goals and interests, we need your continued support in membership and participation at the conferences. The Fall Leadership and Citizenship Conference is being held in conjunction with ForCollegeforLife and will be in Nashville, Tennessee November 8-10, 2019. This conference has an exciting array of professional presenters that will help students build their leadership and citizenship skills. The National Student Advocacy Conference March 14-17, 2020. Information on the conference is available now on the website www.asacc.org.
Annual invoices for membership have been sent out, please contact us if you need us to resend. Membership provides access to regular updates from ASACC, discounts on the conferences we hold, and an array of new benefits that will be announced in the coming months as they are finalized by our staff.
Membership is from September 1 - August 31 of each year. ASACC is committed to serving your needs as the national voice.
