The American Student Association of Community Colleges is excited to open registration for the 35th Annual National Student Advocacy Conference in Washington D.C. March 9-12, 2019. The conference will be held at the Washington Plaza.
Each year the conference focuses on priorities for the 12 million community college students that ASACC represents. Through a series of speakers, workshops and priority discussions the delegates will narrow down a slate of proposals to the top three priorities to take to meetings with their Representatives and Senators on Capitol Hill on Monday and Tuesday of the conference.
Registration information is now available on the ASACC website. The deadline for early bird registration has been moved up to December 14, so colleges should begin to make their plans today to take advantage of those great conference rates. Some colleges won’t decide which delegates that will be attending until January. Don’t worry, you can still register a number of students attending by December 14, and submit the names at a later date. Contact our office for clarification or more information. Registration information can be found at the links on this page of our website: http://asacc.org/conferences/
We are also looking for students to present at the conference. This is a great way to share your knowledge with fellow students and build your resume as a presenter. Workshop Proposal Forms will be accepted until February 10th.
Colleges that register and make their plans early are able to travel with less expense and have a better experience at the conference. You can begin setting up appointments for Monday March 11 and Tuesday March 12 with your Congressional Offices. Also, your Congressional Offices have tours of the U.S. Capitol and can secure limited White House tour tickets when requested several months in advance. You can find your Representatives and Senators and how to contact their offices on the web at www.house.gov and www.senate.gov
With only 400 spots available we hope colleges will schedule their travel, register for the conference, and schedule their visits soon! Please contact our offices with questions or if you need assistance. We will post schedule updates and speaker confirmations on the website and Facebook as they happen. We look forward to seeing you there.
